the majesty of nature ...

Simply INCREDIBLE !
We took a hike up the Torrey Pines State Reserve this afternoon. It is a rugged shrub and pine landscape that hugs the coast and boasts amazing sheer cliffs, collapsed bluffs and panoramic Pacific Ocean views.

Here's us at the beginning of our hike
then we saw this .....
"sooo cute" the girls exclaimed being the perfect urbanites they are...
then we saw this ...
they went "waaaaa..."

and as if God is up-ing the ante with every step we took...
he showed us this....

and this ....
and then this .....

sigh... my pictures don't do enough justice...

R and C hence caught a glimpse of what geography is all about today as i tried to bring my lessons outdoors :) Not sure how much of it they absorbed... but oh well, an appreciation is all i'm after ...

Can you imagine - all these cliffs were once under the sea millions of years ago...

and here's the proof.
We were probably about 100m up on the cliff when i took this shot of the sea shells on the banks of the trail i was on ...

and here's another.
The girls in a boulder cave which had been carved on a cliff-face...

and rounded bluffs from water action...

R reading a board explaining how the bluffs get eroded
And then we saw THIS !
yes, rattlesnakes !!! So throughout the rest of the hike, the girls were too preoccupied looking out for rattlesnakes than looking at anything else ! LOL !!

here's leaving you with some of my favourites of the girls from the day...

girls couldn't open their eyes cos' of those gusty winds !
(at a pit stop - C all tired out after an hour of walking..)

thanks for dropping by ! have a good weekend ahead !
